When his mom saved up for a chemistry smartbook, it broke down the barriers of academia for him. Soon he was amending, expanding, and correcting formulas. The lab was his new wilderness, and he was never lost.
When the Encantado organization wined and dined him, Fermi repaid them with breakthroughs – like organic nanites able to transmute matter. Only when he heard of their use as viral weapons did he realize how far he'd strayed. He hid the formula within his own blood, burned his lab, and vanished into the rain-soaked night.
